Perennial SearcherPerennial SearcherDecember 27, 2006 Jimmy Wales and the Future of SearchJimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, announces a forthcoming search tool that will compete with search titans Yahoo! and Google. It’s called Wikiasari, and you can read more about it in this InformationWeek article. The word Wikiasari is an amalgamation of the “wiki” (Hawaiian for “quick”) and “asari” (Japanese for “rummaging search”). The service, according to Wales, will use open source software and human intervention. Wales is a big believer in human intelligence. It’s people who program the computers and not vice versa.
